Shiny Maity Receives Norell-Funded Student Travel Stipend at ENC-ISMAR 2025

Congratulations to Shiny Maity on receiving the Student Travel Stipend funded by Norell at the ENC-ISMAR 2025 conference! Her abstract, “Water Action is the Driver of AsLOV2 Activation Initiated by Pressure or Light,” was selected for this recognition, supporting her travel to present at the joint meeting in Pacific Grove.

Shiny’s research uses Overhauser DNP and ¹⁷O MAS NMR spectroscopy to reveal how low-entropy hydration water, known as wrap-water, is reversibly released to drive light- or pressure-induced activation of the AsLOV2 protein—offering a fresh view on how hydration dynamics shape protein function.

Norell featured Shiny in their spotlight on stipend recipients, which you can view here. Congratulations, Shiny!
