Hot off the Press!! Back-to-back publications in JACS by the collaborative effort of Han, Ramanathan, Shimon, Takahashi, Equbal at 3.4 and 7 Tesla, and by Kaminker group at 14 Tesla!

Check our most recent publication on P1 center diamonds titled ” P1 Center Electron Spin Clusters Are Prevalent in Type 1b Diamonds.” Complimented with Ilia Kaminker’s most recent paper published in JACS titled “Nitrogen Substituents Aggregation and Clustering in Diamonds as Revealed by High-Field Electron Paramagnetic Resonance.” These papers feature the surprising discovery in two back-to-back […]

Stay tuned for back-to-back publication in JACS by the collaborative effort of Han, Ramanathan, Shimon, Takahashi, Equbal at 3.4 and 7 Tesla, and by Kaminker group at 14 T!

These papers feature the surprising discovery in two back-to-back studies that a large fraction of nitrogen (P1) defects in type 1b diamond, commonly used for ensemble quantum sensing, form exchange-coupled clusters (indicated as 6 connected blue spheres). These cluster evaded the attention of the community until now as it is hardly visible to electron paramagnetic […]

Han Lab has moved into Northwestern University!

As of October 2nd, 2023 the Han Lab has officially moved into Northwestern University. Our current lab space is in Silvermann B530, Tech J317, and in IMSERC in Tech B176. We’re looking forward to getting settled and continuing our research here at NU!

Professor Han Receives Bruker Prize Lecture of the RSC EPR 2024!

The RSC ESR committee is delighted to announce the Prize 2024 to Professor Songi Han for her contributions to the development and application of Magnetic Resonance techniques, in particular her symbiotic and innovative approach to a seamless marriage of EPR and NMR methodology, to allow bespoke control and transfer of both electron and nuclear spin polarization and consequently exquisite and exploitable hyperpolarization. The Bruker Prize Lecture is awarded to scientists who have made...

Professor Han Receives Callaghan Lecturer Prize of the ISMAR 2023!

The ISMAR Executive Committee has also selected Prof. Songi Han to be the 2023 Paul Callaghan Lecturer. Prof. Han’s work pushes the frontiers of magnetic resonance spectroscopy and relaxometry for the study of biomolecular interactions, biomolecular and materials surfaces, and the property of their hydration layers. The Callaghan Lecture honors the many contributions to magnetic […]
